The Sunflower

For years I’ve slept with this book precariously balanced on a pile of other books above my head. It lives on the makeshift bookshelf that is actually the ledge of my headboard. It’s a spillover repository because, contrary to what my son believes, you can never have too many books taking up your space, even if you live in a small apartment. I often joke that if the books fall on me while I sleep, I would consider that a most honorable death.
